Scope

This standard describes the definition and minimum requirements for electronic fuses deployed in low voltage automotive power distribution networks, such as those operating at 12 V, 24 V and 48 V. The document is kept as generic as possible. It focusses for integrated circuits and thus at least for the defined electronic fuse classes from 0,5 A to 40 A, but can also be used for higher currents up to 350 A and other solutions.

This standardization defines a feature set, Input/Output interface, electrical, mechanical, and thermal characteristics for electronic fuses.

Furthermore, this standard defines test specifications for verifying these electronic fuse features to ensure conformity with the standard's requirements. Introducing these measures results in a standardised minimum content for the use in data sheets. The standard facilitates reproducibility and comparability of electronic fuse performance to ease the usage of electronic fuses.

NOTE An extension to other solutions (e.g. gate driver + power switch) is intended for the future.
