Scope

Proposal: In the document part 1 the word «appliance» is used as «drive». The following note  will avoid any misunderstanding.

Add the following note after the first paragraph

NOTE 101 Within the document the terms drive and appliance are interchangeable.

Proposal: In the part 1 the conditions of use of the appliances by the children and the person with specific capabilities are specified. It shall be done in this part also with the following text.

Replace the fifth paragraph starting by “As far as is practical…” by the following:

This standard deals with the reasonably foreseeable hazards presented by appliances drives that are encountered by all persons in and around the home.

However, in general, it does not take into account:

– persons (including children) whose

 physical, sensory or mental capabilities; or

 lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the drive safely without supervision or instruction;

– children playing with the drive.
