Scope

This part of IEC 61000 is applicable to instrumentation intended for measuring spectral components in the frequency range up to 9 kHz which are superimposed on the fundamental voltage and current of the power supply at 50 Hz or 60 Hz. For practical reasons, this document provides different treatment to harmonics, interharmonics and any other spectral components up to 9 kHz that are above the defined harmonic frequency range.

This document provides the normative specification of the measurement instrumentation for testing individual items of equipment in accordance with emission requirements given in product and product family standards (for example, IEC 61000-3-2) as well as for the measurement of harmonic currents and voltages in actual power supply systems. Specifications for measurements above the harmonic frequency range, up to 9 kHz are tentatively defined (see Annex B).
