This document specifies technical definitions and criteria to be fulfilled for

Plantbased and other plant-rich foods;

Plantbased and other plant-rich ingredients;

Plantbased and, or other plant-rich food labelling and claims.

This document does not cover:

unprocessed fruits and vegetables;

animal feed, pet food; or

packaging material for foods.

This document does not address pre-harvest matters or matters of environmental safety, human safety, animal welfare, animal testing or methods of manufacturing or preparation.

This document defines general criteria that are applicable to all food categories and does not include any detailed compositional or nutritional criteria or technical guidance for specific food types.

This document is intended for use:

in business-to-business communications;

in business-to-consumer communications;

by competent authorities, and enforcement agencies;

in relationships in the global food supply chain;

in international trade of food products; and

in food labelling and claims.
