Overview: Under the direction of I/-, REI/1 is responsible for the UK input to ISO/TC 298 and CEN/TC 472 - Rare Earth. Also, ISO/PC 348 Sustainable raw materials and CEN/TC 477 Sustainable production of raw materials from mining related activities. It covers standardization in the field of rare earth mining, concentration, extraction, separation, and conversion to useful rare earth compounds/materials (including oxides, salts, metals, master alloys, etc.) which are key inputs to manufacturing and further production process in a safe and environmentally sustainable manner.
