Overview: Under the direction of the Standards Policy & Strategy Committee, WEE/3 is responsible for the preparation of British Standards specifically in the joining of moulded thermoplastic components using the following welding processes: laser, linear vibration, spin, orbital, hot plate, infrared, hot gas convection and ultrasonic; and the following staking processes: ultrasonic, heat, hot air and infrared; and also in the assessment of these joints. It also provides UK input into CEN/TC249/WG16, which covers the following welding processes: butt fusion, electrofusion and socket fusion welding of pipes; butt fusion, hot gas and extrusion welding of sheet; and extrusion and heated wedge welding of geomembranes. It also provides UK input into ISO/TC61/SC11/WG14 and ISO/TC44/SC7/WG2.
