Overview: Under the direction of SPSC, is responsible for producing British Standards relating to the manufacture, installation, maintenance and monitoring of electronic security systems and products, including Intruder and Hold-up Alarm Systems (I&HAS), External Perimeter Security Systems (EPSS), system components and interconnections, Transmission Equipment and Networks, Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance Systems (VSS), Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC) and Social Alarms. GW/1 is responsible for UK input to European committee and international committees, including IEC/TC 79, CLC/TC 79 and CEN/TC 431. GW/1 provides assistance and input to the GW/1 sub-committee structure and other relevant national, European and international committees, as well as other public interest and policy groups that may impact on the standards in this area.
