This document identifies data related to vehicles that can be used for ITS services and organizes them as an ontology.
Data related to vehicles are used in a wide range of ITS services, and the same data concepts are often included in multiple ITS standards and specifications, with different definitions or relationships. To promote a more consistent and coherent understanding of these data concepts, this project will identify vehicle-related data concepts used for ITS services and organize them as an ontology to provide a more complete semantic representation of the vehicle topic area, as recorded in the Registry of Intelligent Transport System Ontologies (RITSO). This centralized repository will provide a central resource that ITS standards can easily reference. This document contributes to the RITSO approach, in which multiple topic area ontologies form the overall ITS ontology and are harmonized over time.
