Scope

This document defines the general terms used in the field of ventilation for buildings.

Purpose

Consistency is one of the core principles of CEN standardization, which emphasizes the use of uniform terminology across all documents. To support this, Working Group 1 (WG1) of Technical Committee 156 (TC 156) is tasked with developing and maintaining a standard for terminology to be used by all other working groups within TC 156.

This document was created based on the existing terminology of TC 156, along with new terms introduced in recently published TC 156 documents.

The motivation for updating existing terms and definitions stems from the fact that many of them did not align with the latest principles and methods of terminology work.
