Standards Development
This standard describes a test method for determining the efficiency of a curing compound to protect fresh concrete against the evaporation of water when applied immediately after the bleed water has been evaporated or eliminated.
The goal is to establish uniform standards for the use of curing compounds as an equivalent curing method, as referenced in EN 13670. For curing compounds, not only must the curing efficiency index be known, but the test method used to determine this index must also be specified, in order to enable meaningful and reliable application.
A low curing efficiency index indicates insufficient protection of the concrete against moisture loss through evaporation. Such evaporation is harmful to both the quality and the long‑term durability of the concrete if proper curing is not ensured.
The standard provides an important quality improvement impulse for the sector, supporting more consistent and reliable curing practices.
