This document defines methodologies to measure the energy consumption and productivity of hot beverages vending machines based on their characteristics. This document applies to hot beverages vending machines including those dispensing also cold beverages as additional feature. This document does not apply to: - traditional coffee machines (already covered by prEN50730 elaborated by WG 21) - fully automatic coffee machines (already covered by prEN50730 elaborated by WG 21) - household appliances; - machines powered by non-electrical energy (i.e. gas); NOTE Hot beverages vending machines represent the majority of the market, some hot beverages machines are provided with additional module to dispense cold beverages.
To define a standard to measure consumption and productivity in order to compare hot beverages vending machines and cover future possible European Regulations. The starting point is the experience from prEN 50730 “Professional and commercial coffee machines - Methods for measuring energy consumption and productivity” that has been developed by TC 59X WG 21 (which does not include hot beverages vending machines and will not include them). Where hot beverage vending machine is defined as: - Hot beverages vending machine a vending machine that dispenses hot beverages - Vending machine a dispensing appliance that is operated by coins, credit cards or other means of payment
