Standards Development
This document specifies requirements, recommendations and guidance for identification of assets, systems, components, locations and related information in digital information models and for labelling in built facilities, using the concepts, principles and requirements established in Part 1.
The document covers identification of object occurrences and types, system relations, building or facility and top-node relations, additional identifiers, historical identifiers, database synchronization keys, primary and secondary systems, component locations, rooms served by components, functional roles, system types, standard components, aggregation levels, syntax rules and common identification properties for information models.
It applies to organizations that specify, produce, manage, check, exchange or use information models for buildings and infrastructure assets. The document is intended to be used together with Part 1 and relevant CEN and ISO BIM standards. Software-specific implementation rules, proprietary workflows and file-format specifications are outside the core scope of this part
This proposal establishes a European Standard providing requirements, recommendations and guidance for identification of assets, systems, components, locations and related information in digital information models and for labelling in built facilities. It supports implementation of BIM- enabled information management by enabling objects, systems, locations and their relations to be identified consistently across disciplines, organizations, software systems and lifecycle stages.The work responds to the need for a shared European basis for persistent and unambiguous identification in information models and physical labelling. Consistent identification is necessary for coordination, handover, facility management, asset management, maintenance, inspection, replacement, database synchronization, lifecycle history and automated checking. It also supports the reliable linking of information across information models, external databases, facility management systems, and documentation repositories.Part 2 will define identification- specific requirements and guidance using the general concepts, principles and requirements established in Part 1. Technical topics include identification of object occurrences and types, system relations, building or facility relations, top-node relations, additional identifiers, historical identifiers, database synchronization keys, primary and secondary systems, component locations, rooms served by components, functional roles, system types, standard components, aggregation levels, syntax rules and common identification properties. Development within CEN/TC 442/WG 11 enables the application guidance to be grounded in European implementation experience and aligned with the wider CEN/TC 442 portfolio. Note: The project is proposed as a CEN/TC 442 work item based on CEN/TC 442/WG 11 working material. It is not based on a document from another organization.
