This British Standard specifies the safety, performance, and operational requirements for pressure vessels for single human occupancy (mono-place) designed for pressures in excess of ambient atmospheric pressure, including mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers (mHBOT). It applies to chambers supplied for commercial or domestic use.
The standard covers:
• Design, construction testing and materials requirements for pressure vessels for single human occupancy
• Delivery and discharge systems for oxygen and oxygen-rich mixtures along with atmospheric monitoring.
• Operational protocols and user safety
• Fire risk mitigation and emergency procedures
• Material compatibility in oxygen-enriched environments
• Requirements for installation, maintenance, and inspection
• Competency and training of personnel operating pressure vessels for single human occupancy
This standard does not apply to multi-place hyperbaric chambers which meet the requirements of BS EN 14931:2006
