This document defines Type F1, Type F2 and Type F3 software measurement standards, for verifying instruments and analysis software. It introduces the concept of mathematical softgauge (Type F3) that is based upon mathematics and is independent from implementation arbitrary choices. Type F1 traceable softgauges and Type F2 traceable software are derived from the Type F3 mathematical softgauges.
This document aims to replace and extend ISO 5436-2, and develop the concept of software measurement standards, by describing mathematical softgauges (new concept), traceable softgauges (previously called reference data in ISO 5436-2) and traceable software (previously called reference software in ISO 5436-2).
Software measurement standards allow the validation of software algorithms for the calculation of parameters, filtration or form association algorithms. They also allow the evaluation of the effect of perturbations in the source data, and of the stability of parameter or filter definitions.
Required form fields are indicated by an asterisk (*) character.
