This standard applies to the BASIC SAFETY and ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS of MEDICAL chairs. Not al criteria apply to some RECLINERS (e.g. electrical criteria do not apply to manualy operated RECLINERS). These specific provisions do not apply to: - STRETCHERS intended for use in rescue services (these are covered by DIN EN 1789), - PATIENT positioning devices defined in the scope of DIN EN 60601-2-46, - PATIENT positioning devices from diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic equipment (see IEC 60601-2-54 or IEC 60601-2-43), - medical beds (see IEC 80601-2-52 and IEC 80601-2-89), - Field operating tables, - Dental patient chairs (see ISO 74941), - Stretchers (see DIN 13024-N), - Couches (see Project 82305/Future EN 50775) - Products that are used for the transport of PATIENTS/persons in accordance with their INTENDED USE (e.g. stretchers, transport beds, recovery beds), - Walmounted FOLDING STRETCHERS.
Due to the functional differences between medical- couches and chairs, the CLC working group recommends not to include both in the CLC project “82305 - prEN 50775”. Instead, a separate standard for medical chairs should be developed to address the different requirements.
