Scope

The work consists in suggesting the use of a blocked force substitution method in Annex B of EN 15657 and defining the method.

Purpose

EN 15657 Annex C describes the power substitution method, that can be used to indirectly measure quantities such as the installed power of a structure-borne sound source either in lab or in situ. In the case where the receiving structure is of low mobility compared to the source mobility and the force applied the only source quantity of interest, the power substitution method can be replaced by a “blocked force substitution method” much simpler. This latter method is not suggested in the existing standard and will be used in standard EN 14366-1 (Lab measurements of waste water installations), now under revision.
