Scope

This document specifies the dimensions and performance requirements for dental explorers and the periodontal probes. It is applicable to dental explorer made of austenitic and martensitic steel. This document is not applicable to endodontic explorers and not applicable to periodontal probes with working ends made of plastics.

Purpose

This edition cancels and replaces the ISO 7492:2018 (Dental explorer) as well as the ISO 21672-1 and ISO 21672-2 (Periodontal Probes).
