This document specifies requirements and test methods for metallic and polymeric dental tweezers of Meriam type and College type.
This document is not applicable to anatomical tweezers and surgical tweezers.
Dental tweezers are hand-guided dental instruments intended for use in patients’ oral cavities to grasp, hold, and transfer items and/or materials during clinical procedures. During use, these instruments are subjected to repeated mechanical loading as well as cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes.
The functional performance of dental tweezers, including closing and opening forces, tip alignment, and material properties such as hardness and corrosion resistance, is essential to ensure reliable handling, durability, and patient safety.
This document specifies requirements and test methods for dental tweezers, including design, dimensions, materials, mechanical performance, and resistance to reprocessing, in order to support appropriate product design and material selection, ensure consistent functional performance, and facilitate harmonized regulatory and manufacturing practices.
