This document specifies test methods for determining the maximum explosion pressure and maximum rate of pressure rise of hybrid gas-dust mixtures in a closed vessel under defined initial conditions of pressure and temperature.
This standard will be developed based on DIN/TS 31018-2 by DIN. For hybrid mixtures, it is not possible to determine the safetyrelated parameters according to the existing standards. However, from previous research, it is known that hybrid mixtures can be more sensitive to ignition, exhibit expanded explosive ranges, and the effects of explosions can be more severe compared to mixtures where the combustible components are present in only one state of matter. Therefore, for risk assessment, it is not sufficient to rely solely on the respective safety-related parameters of the individual components (each mixed with air). In order to have standardized procedures for determining safety-related parameters for hybrid mixtures available in the future, the goal is to develop suitable determination methods for hybrid mixtures.
