This document specifies the requirements for coalbed methane well logging evaluation techniques. It is applicable to coalbed methane well logging data acquisition, data processing, and interpretation and evaluation.
Global coalbed methane resources have significant potential, but the existing well logging standard system has lagged behind technological development. Establishing a new well logging evaluation technical specification can effectively address key technical bottlenecks in coalbed methane exploration and development, thereby promoting large-scale resource utilization.
The relevant technical content of this standard has been successfully applied in the Daning-Jixian block of the Ordos Basin in China, supporting coalbed methane reserve reporting and large-scale production capacity construction, and achieving breakthroughs in both economic benefits and production capacity release. Practice has shown that this standard has the potential for global promotion and can effectively address issues such as comprehensive well logging interpretation of key reservoir parameters and sweet spot optimization.
After implementation, this deliverable will unify technical standards and operational procedures, improve the accuracy of well logging interpretation, accurately identify reservoir sweet spots (highproductivity zones), and achieve efficient exploration and development while reducing geological and engineering risks. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a technical specification suitable for coalbed methane well logging evaluation.
