This document establishes general principles for risk assessment of damaging alkali-silica reaction (ASR) in concrete.
This document gives guidance on use of test methods and declaration of both concrete and concrete constituents.
CEN/TC 51 Cement, CEN/104 Concrete, CEN/TC 154 Aggregate and CEN/TC 229 have in cooperation set out a conceptual framework for risk assessment of ASR on a European level.
The framework will provide technical options for testing and declaration, and leave risk assessment, acceptance criteria and necessary measures as decisions to be handled on a national level, The concept will give guidance for both concrete and its constituents (cement, additions and aggregates etc.).
The concept is indicated to be in line with the new CPR, giving a consistent approach across Europe.
