Scope

This document specifies the use of scaffolding for work installed for ship and offshore plants construction.

Purpose

ISO/CD 24860 was cancelled on April 10, 2026, because the deadline for DIS registration had been exceeded, even though WG12 members had just completed the drafting work for skipping over CD stage and for DIS registration. A new NP voting is required to reactivate the project. This voting is proposed to advance the project directly to the DIS stage.

The previous purpose of ISO 24860 is provided below for reference.

In order to comply with the safety standards of materials when installing scaffolds for ships and offshore construction, and to prevent inconsistencies and confusion due to the client request to apply the scaffolding standards for overseas construction and civil engineering, it is to improve the safety and work efficiency of workers by enacting international standards. In addition to securing the safety of workers, it is possible to secure price competitiveness through cost reduction as well as improving the reliability of the ordering party. In addition, it is possible to remove the uncertainty of the standards through comparative analysis with safety standards or regulations in the field of construction and civil engineering.
