This document specifies performance requirements together with the measurement methods and conditions relating to LED light sources for horticultural lighting purposes.
This document applies to horticultural lighting purpose LED light sources connected to a supply of up to 1 500 V DC or 1000 V AC, which take the form of LED lamps or LED modules.
Horticultural lighting, as one type of specific application, is becoming more and more popular, especially with the application of LED technologies, and the need for facility farming, such as vertical farming and greenhouses.
Compared with general lighting, from a performance aspect, the major differences for horticultural lighting are as follows:
• change of performance metric system from photometric to photon system, which is normally based on a specific wavelength range;
• Increased concern for the endurance properties because of the close relevance to the crop yield.
This document acknowledges the need for defining performance data to be provided for LED light sources for horticultural lighting purpose. The document also provides information supporting the responsible use of horticultural lighting products. This docume nt represents the technical knowledge of experts in the field of horticultural lighting, and will be developed in close context with IEC 63555 and IEC 63544.
