This document provides guidelines on the functional and technical requirements for autonomous disinfection robots capable of performing disinfection tasks in hospital environments. It includes, but is not limited to, the basic requirements for the robot’s mobility, maneuvrability, and disinfection equipment. Additionally, it addresses the integration of hospital infrastructure with the robot, monitoring and remote operation of the robot, and emergency response functions to ensure effective disinfection tasks.
This document applies to disinfection robots designed for use in hospital environments and does not apply to robots used in industrial settings or outdoor environments.
This proposal aims to establish guidelines for the functional and technical requirements of robots performing autonomous disinfection services in smart hospital environments.
Hospitals require a high level of hygiene management not only in situations like the COVID-19 pandemic but also in routine operations to effectively control significant infection sources such as multidrug-resistant organisms. Automated disinfection within hospitals using robots can increase disinfection efficiency and enhance the safety of both healthcare workers and patients. This document can provide useful information to various stakeholders, including hospital administrators, healthcare professionals, and robot manufacturers, and contribute to the development and commercialization of these technologies, and their adoption in hospitals.
