The ISO 472 series defines terms used in the plastics industry, including terms and definitions appearing in the plastics standards of ISO/TC 61 "Plastics" and general terms and definitions of polymer science used in all aspects of plastics technology.
This document defines terms used in the plastics standards of ISO/TC 61/SC 6 "Ageing, chemical and environmental resistance".
ISO/TC 61 has decided to revise ISO 472:2013 by splitting it in several parts. Each part is being put in the responsibility of one of the ISO/TC 61/SCs. ISO 472-6 is being developed by ISO/TC 61/SC 6 “Ageing, chemical and environmental resistance”. The purpose of ISO 472-6 is to include all terms and definitions relevant to standards of ISO/TC 61/SC 6 in one standard.
ISO 472:2013 was adopted as EN ISO 472:2013. Therefore, the projects revising EN ISO 472:2013 should also be adopted as ENISO-standards in order to fully replace EN ISO 472:2013. It is beneficial for all stakeholders to use the same terms and definitions throughout the industry and thus, an adoption of ISO 472-6 as EN ISO 472-6 is sensible.
prEN ISO 472-6 is intended to partially replace EN ISO 472-6:2013.
