Scope

This document identifies the key characteristics, measurands and test methods for multiwall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) powder samples that are available to industry for the determination of these parameters.

This document can be used as a reference point for the research, development and commercialization of these materials. Sample preparation and measurement protocol are not contained within this document.

Purpose

We propose to refresh the existing TR10929 and upgrade it into a TS to make it available to the MWCNT industry for its reference. The existing TR was written before the wave of commercialization of MWCNTs which are critical materials today for many important industries and require appropriate standards.

This work is intended to refresh and update existing ISO documentation to reflect the growing needs of the MWCNT industry which has matured since the last document was written. The work is supported by industrial players and NIST and received broad support when introduced in the last ISO meeting.
