This document specifies requirements, test methods, marking, manufacturer’s instructions and information and packaging for guided type fall arresters including a flexible anchor line forming a single product. This anchor line is attached to an upper anchor point for vertical and inclined applications; for horizontal applications, the anchor point can be located at the user’s foot level. Guided type fall arresters including a flexible anchor line conforming to this document are components of one of the fall arrest systems covered by EN 363:2018. Other types of fall arresters are specified in EN 353-1:2014+A1:2017 or EN 360:2023.
Amend dimension 4.1 mm to 16.4 mm in Figure 7 b) so that the thickness is correct for a 4 kg steel test mass. (Comment: this error was noted at the time of formal vote, however, correction was not permitted at that time).
Amend figures 10a) and 11a) to mark arrest distance HAD from the release point above the test edge rather than from the test edge itself. (Comment: this amendment will remove the need to include the connection height of the user (1.5 m) to determine the overall arrest distance and be clearer for the user).
Amend 5.2.1.1 so that it is clear that the entire connection element is subjected to the preloading test not just the energy dissipating element, which is a part of the connection element. Also amend 0,008 s-1 to 0,008 m∙s-1 for the correct unit of metres per second for the rate of stressing.
Amend 5.2.1.2.2 so that it is clear to measure the initial length of the energy dissipating element between its load bearing points.
Amend 5.2.2.2.1 so that it is clear that GTFA is positioned on the flexible line along with the stopper device, should fitting a stopper device be applicable. The option to fit a stopper device aligns with the note below Figure 3.This amendment also removes the need for the GTFA/stopper device to be in contact with the end stop as the intention of this test is not to test the end stop.
Amend title of Figure 3 accordingly. (Comment: testing of the end stop is carried out in 5.4 - Dynamic strength and integrity test). Delete 5.3.2.1 which removes the need to carry out the dynamic performance test on the same sample used in the preloading test. This allows for the performance test to be carried out on a new test sample. Renumber subsequent sub-clauses in 5.3.2 accordingly.
