This part of IEC 63093 specifies the dimensions that are of importance for mechanical interchangeability for a preferred range of SQ -cores made of ferrite, as well as the effective parameter values to be used in calculations involving them. It also gives g uidelines on allowable limits of surface irregularities applicable to both uncoated and coated SQ -cores in accordance with the relevant general specifications.
The specifications contained in this document are useful in negotiations between ferrite core suppliers and customers about surface irregularities.
SQ-cores are a kind of closed magnetic path ferrite cores, they are used to manufacture common mode anti-EMI filters, which are widely used in automobiles, telecommunication, home appliances, medical equipment and lighting, etc. The market capacity of SQ -cores accounts for approximately 20% of Mn-Zn high permeability core products. So far there is no relevant IEC standard for SQ - cores. With manufacturers producing products with a wide range of specifications, the market urgently needs standards on SQ-cores. Developing this standard is conducive to the establishment of a more perfect standard system for ferrite cores, to improve the technical and quality level of related products, and to promote their production and trade.
