This document specifies the requirements for the HSI dual data channel coupling connector system used to connect machines, attachments and expansion kits within an HSI infrastructure.
This document specifies:
— The HSI coupling plug, HSI socket;
— Functional, stylistic, geometric, mounting, mechanical, material and electrical requirements;
— Conformance testing of the HSI dual data channel for manual coupling connector system.
The ISO 23870 High-speed interconnect (HSI) series is a set of standards specifying a multi-purpose protocol communication stack for advanced communication and control, compliant with the Open System Interconnect (OSI) requirements with the main focus on 1000BASE-T1 Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) Type B (40 m cable length).
This document series is under the responsibility of ISO TC 127/SC 3/Joint Working Group (JWG) 16 “Secure high-speed mobile data communication”, which consists of experts from
— ISO TC 127/SC 3 Earth-moving machinery,
— ISO TC 82/SC 8 Advanced automated mining systems,
— ISO TC 23/SC 15 Machinery for forestry,
— ISO TC 23/SC 19 Agricultural electronics,
— ISO TC 22/SC 31 Road vehicles – Data communication
— ISO TC 22/SC 32 Road vehicles – Electrical and electronic components and general system aspects
— ISO TC195 Building construction machinery and equipment.
All committees seek a new SPE-based interconnection at a speed grade of 1 Gbit/s bit rate on a 2-wire physical connection between machines and attachments as well for towing and towed vehicles, to meet data exchange and control function demands of future applications. The 1 Gbit/s bit rate may further extend into the machines/attachments and towing/towed vehicles to end-point ECUs where appropriate.
The objective of the JWG 16 is the development of a single set of ISO standards for a HSI multi- purpose protocol stack (OSI layers 1 to 7) including middleware, which meets the requirements of all stakeholders (all mobile machinery) independent of domain (industry/ISO TC)-specific application standards and electrical and mechanical connections.
ISO TC 22/SC 32 handles all the specific requirements for road vehicles and working group 9 (WG9) specifies all connection systems in between towing and towed vehicles such as ISO 7638 series and ISO 12098 with experts from the truck and trailer industry. The new connection system based on 1 Gbit/s bit rate should consider specific requirements of on road vehicles and enables functions that are intended to improve road safety, vehicle automation, the control of attachments and electrification, and could replace existing ISO connector systems.
