Scope

This International Standard defines a structured engineering data model and associated properties for representing the three-dimensional (3D) position of a device related to a system in low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies. It establishes a standardized framework for the physical description of devices, including dimensions, spatial coordinates, orientations, and interface locations, which are essential for mechanical and electrical design, integration, and verification. The standard supports CAx-based planning processes by specifying relevant geometric and position properties, enabling consistent digital representation and interoperability across engineering tools and disciplines. It applies to all product types within the scope of IEC TC121.

Purpose

62683-2-4 specifies a standardized semantic data model for describing devices, including dimensions, orientation, and positions of mechanical and electrical interfaces that are essential for mechanical and electrical design, integration, and verification. In addition, the reference position coordinates of a device in relation to an equipment and/or environment are specified.
