Scope

This part of ISO 8528 contains the terms and definitions related to reciprocating internal combustion engine driven alternating current generating set. It serves as a means of clarifying terms between manufacturer, commissioning engineer, and operator.

Purpose

The current ISO 8528 series comprise 13 parts (incl. IEC/ISO 88528-11) with over 180 terms and definitions. Some of the same terms appear in different parts of the series and have different definitions. The purpose of this standard is to collect all terms and definitions of ISO 8528 series & IEC/ISO 88528-11 in one document to ensure a unified description of used terms and definitions among ISO 8528 series (incl. IEC/ISO 88528-11). For the existing terms in different Parts which are not exactly aligned with each other, it is agreed that the other standards in the series will require periodic review and update but they can be done as stand-alone work items in future revisions. This has been preliminarily agreed on the WG level (see ISO/TC70/WG10 N357 & ISO/TC 70/WG 14 N210)
