Scope

This proposal is intended to provide a checklist for ageing-inclusive digital economy aligned with ISO 25556:2025.

This document is applicable to the organizations, public or private, with the responsibility for the operation of ageing-inclusive digital economy or part of it.

Purpose

(1) CONTEXT, CONCERN & RELEVANCE

The global demographic shift toward ageing populations, compounded by rapid digital transformation, necessitates inclusive frameworks to ensure the equitable participation of diverse populations in the digital economy. ISO 25556:2025 established general requirements and guidelines for ageing-inclusive digital economies, yet its practical implementation requires actionable guidance. ISO/TS 25556-2 addresses this gap by providing a structured checklist aligned with ISO 25556:2025, enabling organizations to systematically assess and enhance their ageing-inclusive practices.

(2) PROBLEM-SOLVING & MARKET NEEDS

Organizations operating in digital economies may lack clarity on how to operationalize ISO 25556:205's requirements, leading to inconsistent adoption and suboptimal outcomes for older users. There is a demand for a pragmatic tool to bridge the gap between ISO 25556:2025 and practical implementation. This TS addressed this gap by providing a globally applicable, sector-agnostic checklist that empowers organizations to: - Identify specific gaps in digital products, services, and processes affecting older users. - Align internal processes with ISO 25556:2025's requirements (e.g., combatting ageism, accessibility usability, availability, affordability, safety, privacy, digital infrastructure, intelligent products, digital services, digital environment, digital literacy).

(3) BENEFITS AND VALUES FOR USERS

The primary value of ISO/TS 25556-2 lies in enabling the practical realization of ISO 25556:2025, delivering benefits by providing organizations (public-private, large SMEs) with a ready-to-use tool to systematically apply the standard, thereby reducing implementation costs and complexity. This TS transforms the aspirational goals of ISO 25556:2025 into measurable, actionable outcomes, creating tangible value for organizations and societies worldwide.
