Standards Development
This European Standard is applicable to magnesium oxide used for treatment of water intended for human consumption. It describes the characteristics of magnesium oxide and specifies the requirements and the corresponding test methods for magnesium oxide. It gives information on its use in water treatment.
Throughout the document calcium hydroxide must be amended to calcium dihydroxide.
Amendment of NOTES, in 4.5 the NOTE to Table 4 must be adjusted.
Inserting a new subclause ‘A.2 Impact of commercial products on drinking water quality’ with a new ’Table A.1 Maximum impact of High-calcium limes, Type 1, on chemical parameter contents of water. Drinking water limit value based on Drinking Water Directive.’, and ’Table A.2 Maximum impact of High-calcium limes, Type 2, on chemical parameter contents of water. Drinking water limit value based on Drinking Water Directive.’
Annex B must be deleted, and the text incorporated into Annex A.
In Bibliography replacing the previous Drinking Water Directive of 1998 with the new one of 2020.
The standard needs technical, legislative and editorial updating.
