This document defines the classification of damage and its identification characteristics for textile cultural heritage, including modern and contemporary textiles. It is applicable to, though not limited to, the recording of textile conditions and serves as a reference for conservation and restoration activities.
The proposal seeks to overcome obstacles to international cooperation in textile cultural heritage conservation, which arise from disagreements over damage classification. By establishing a unified global consensus for categorizing damage, it aims to foster international trust and promote partnerships. Ultimately, the proposal also hopes to enhance the efficiency of training professionals and improve the effectiveness of standardized management in conservation programs.
