This part of IEC 6xxxx covers single-mode fibre optic connection interfaces for quantum applications. It includes references, document structure details, definitions, and optical connection grades.
Note: The grades will be based on random mated connections between two optical connector populations according to prescribed characteristics including MFD mismatch.
High-fidelity “quantum grade” optical cables and connections (splices and mated connectors) will be a critical part of the future quantum network ecosystem providing ultra -low loss conduits to convey qubits without disruption between distributed quantum subsystems in disaggregated distributed networks.
