This International Standard specifies the requirements of data format and data access for a machine-interpretable data sheet for power semiconductors. This includes values given in a typical PDF data sheet (electrical, thermal and mechanical) but can go be yond these properties. Not in scope is a standardization of modelling techniques, mandatory parameters to be provided.
The development of power electronic systems, as in many other technical areas, is now model - based and continues to develop into a digital twin. The starting point for the parameterization of models is often the data sheet in PDF format provided by the manu facturer of a component. The increasing time pressure in development motivates to make the data sheet information more easily available in the development environments used. This and many other possibilities, which a machine-readable data sheet opens up, motivated the writing.
The use cases focus on the entire lifecycle of a power semiconductor from two perspectives. From the product manufacturer's perspective, use cases arise that describe the distribution and management of data from the target data sheet to discontinuation.
From the manufacturer's point of view, every product offered has characteristics that must be provided to users in the form of data. When a new product is announced, there is a target data sheet with simulation values and initial specifications. The use ca se here is that these data can be delivered appropriately labelled.
At a later stage, measurements are performed and the product properties now consist of measured values. The provided data set can now be updated and all users automatically receive this update and have direct access to the updated data.
Another use case is that properties can be added and these additional measurement series are updated directly. This can happen, for example, due to requests from customers. It is also possible to make certain properties available only to certain users or groups.
If a product is discontinued, this is transmitted directly to all users. The manufacturer also has the option of suggesting replacement parts.
The end user obtains the data from the manufacturer and integrates the data set, which can update automatically, into the toolchains used for the design of power electronic conversion systems. Since the measurement parameters and measurement conditions in the data sheets do not correspond to real conditions in the application, it is often necessary for the end user to perform own measurements. The use case of the dataset is to store and manage these additional measurements only in the end user's domain.
