Scope

This document specifies the general requirements and test methods for the appearance, coating thickness, solar absorptance, reflectance, emittance, adhesion, aging resistance, thermal cycling resistance, damp heat resistance, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of absorber coating of receiver of solar power tower plant. It provides detailed specifications for the instruments, test specimens, procedures, measurement accuracy, and limitations associated with the evaluation of each performance parameter. This document is applicable to the coating, testing, acceptance, operation, and maintenance of absorber coating in solar power tower receivers that use molten salt, water/steam, or air as the heat transfer fluid.

Purpose

A receiver is the core component of a solar power tower plant. The receiver coating suffers various challenges, such as frequent start-up and shutdown cycles, fluctuations of solar flux intensity, and erosions. These may lead to degradation or even damage, which affects the efficiency, safety, and stability of the whole system. This standard provides general requirements and test methods for the coating, including coating appearance, thickness, solar absorptance, reflectance, emittance, adhesion, aging resistance, thermal cycling resistance, damp heat resistance, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The standard is expected to facilitate the development of industries of solar tower power plant and to boost the development of solar thermal technologies.
