The TR describes the following aspects of oxygen in the gas infrastructure:
- Status of oxygen in the gas system and sources for oxygen
- Impact of oxygen for gas infrastructure and end-users
- Cross interaction of other gas components
- Mitigation possibilities and strategies
- And other relevant aspects
The purpose of the TR is to summarise the present knowledge of oxygen and its impact on the gas system. Natural gas does in general only contain oxygen in trace amounts, but with the introduction of renewable gases the gas system experiences methane gases with higher oxygen content than earlier.
In the frame of CEN SFG GQS a task force (TF3) has worked in the period 2019-2023 to establish a new level of understanding of all relevant oxygen aspects in order to deliver knowledge-based input to CEN TC 234 WG 11 for the update of EN 16726. The input has been delivered, but the knowledge has not been consolidate in a report format for future use.
Additionally the TR will included recent results from the GERG projekt - Biostar2C.
