This document gives recommendations on and describes the principles of operation of magneto-inductive devices that may be used for estimating the concrete cover. It also describes their methods of use and applications, the accuracy to be expected, the verification procedures and the factors which may influence the results.
The original draft submitted to ENQ on measuring the concrete cover using magneto-inductive covermeters has been amended with major changes regarding terminology, apparatus requirements and calibration/verification/check based on the experience from different experts/specialists such as German ones that were not at the time of draft writing members of TG8. The modifications, especially on the equipment requirements, give a new perspective on this technology and better clarify practice compared to the original project.
