ISO/NP 26185 Aerospace — General requirements for coating process of metallic-ceramic anti-corrosive coating

Scope

This document specifies the requirements for coating process and control of metallic-ceramic anticorrosive coating. The metallic-ceramic anti-corrosive coating is used in medium temperature surface protection of aircraft and aero-engine parts.

Purpose

Metal-ceramic coatings have many advantages, including good corrosion resistance, good heat resistance, environmentally friendly process, and simple equipment, etc. Its main uses include sacrificial protective coatings for aircraft, jet engines, and corrosion protection of industrial steam turbine parts.

At present, Metal-ceramic coatings are widely used in the aviation field. While aviation manufacturing companies all over the world are using this technology, but no international standard has yet been formed. In view of the advantages of this process and the demand of the international market, it is necessary to carry out relevant standardization work at ISO.

This standard will specify the coating, spraying equipment, spraying parameters, curing temperature, coating performance process identification, use restrictions, quality control requirements, rework process and other related content, and clarifies the application range of the coating. This standard can improve the corrosion protection level of aviation enterprises from the current greater than 360h to greater than 1000h. At the same time, the high temperature resistance of the coating also expands its application range, which can meet some special needs in the aviation field and improve the performance of aviation equipment.

The proposal for this new project was initially presented at the third plenary meeting of ISO/TC20/SC18 on 17 March 2022, during which its scope and content were discussed. At the fourth plenary meeting of ISO/TC20/SC18, ISO/TC20/SC18 approved the NP vote to start the standard.
