Scope

This part of IEC 61169 provides test methods for the contact resistance of radio frequency (RF) connectors, including the contact resistance of the centre contact, the contact resistance of the outer contact, and the contact resistance between the cable braid or outer conductor and the connector at the point of contact.

This document is applicable to cable RF connectors, microstrip RF connectors and RF adapters. It can also be used as a reference for other connectors.

Purpose

The purpose of this proposal is to add a new electrical test methods for Radio frequency connectors of IEC 61169-1 series standard.

With the development of RF connectors towards high-frequency (millimeter wave), high-density, and high-power carrying, the accuracy and comparability of contact resistance testing, as a key electrical parameter, are becoming increasingly important.
