Scope

This document specifies the designation and ordering, information needed by the manufacturer , requirements, inspection, test methods, marking, labelling and packaging to accompany the delivery of zinc coated steel wire for paper pulp baling and unitizing. This document applies to zinc coated steel wire for paper pulp baling and unitizing (hereinafter referred to as steel wire) .

Purpose

Zinc coated steel wire for paper pulp baling and unitizing (hereinafter referred to as steel wire) is the wire used by pulp mills in high-speed automated packaging lines for pulp bale bundling. Processed from premium medium-carbon or high-carbon steel wire rods, this product features a clean surface, high tensile elongation rate, excellent automatic strapping and buckling performance, and strong binding strength. Currently widely adopted in the papermaking industry, bundling wire provides reliable packaging material support for the sector's development. With the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, this bundling wire will play an increasingly important role in international cooperative projects for papermaking technology development. Product Technical Requirements: Nominal diameter 1.83 mm3.25 mm Bare steel wires shall be hot-dip zinc coated after drawingtensile strength 8801200or9601 200MPa Elongation after fracture710% Safety Factor4 Number of torsions 25The zinc coating weight on the wire surface shall be (25–60) g/m² Welding on finished product is not permitted. According to statistics, the global market size of bundling wire stabilized at 200,000 tons in 2024. Regional breakdown includes: China (60,000 tons), Thailand (10,000 tons), Brazil (60,000 tons), Europe (20,000 tons), Chile (10,000 tons), North America (20,000 tons), and other regions (20,000 tons). Major producers include Canada's Green Island Wire, Belgium's Bekaert, Korea's Kiswire SY (KSY), Sweden's Pacwire, and China's BROAD WIRE . Key clients comprise International Paper (US), Klabin (Brazil), UPM (Finland), APP (Malaysia/Indonesia), and Red Sun Vietnam (Vietnam). This substantial market has become a vital component of global economic development and infrastructure. Additionally, per China Paper Association statistics, the integrated pulp, paper, and paper products industry produced 295.93 million tons in 2024, marking a 1.56% yearon-year growth. Global demand for pulp bales is projected to maintain steady growth at elevated levels. Based on research into major global manufacturers of zinc coated steel wire for paper pulp baling and unitizing, China currently has only the industry standard YB/T 4296. Both domestic and international enterprises primarily rely on bilateral technical agreements for requirements regarding this wire. BROAD WIRE alone has established over 100 technical specifications for zinc coated steel wire for paper pulp baling and unitizing. However, these specifications are confined to individual contracts between parties, which hinders broader communication and collaboration between suppliers and customers across the industry. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop an ISO standard. This would ensure higher-quality products, facilitate trade and exchange, and meet the current demands of market development. This document specifies the designation and ordering, information needed by the manufacturer ,requirements, inspection, test methods, marking, labelling and packaging to accompany the delivery of zinc coated steel wire for paper pulp baling and unitizing
