Scope

This standard specifies the test methods and test conditions for assessing the life of positive displacement compressors. It includes rotary compressors, scroll compressors and reciprocating piston compressors. This standard applies to hermetic compressors.

Semi-hermetic compressors may refer to it for use. This standard applies to compressors using refrigerants R22, R410A, R32, R454B and R290. Compressors using other refrigerants may refer to it for use.

This standard applies to compressors used in air conditioning, space heating, refrigeration, dehumidification and heat pump water heater applications. Compressors used in other applications may refer to it for use.

Purpose

1, Positive displacement refrigerant compressors are widely used in various fields such as home air conditioning, commercial air conditioning, industrial refrigeration, computing room air handling system and heat pumps. 2024 global market size for positive displacement refrigerant compressor has exceeded 0.5 Billion units. And predicted compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in the future 5 years reaches to 2~5% globally.

2, As a key component of cooling system, the life span of compressor significantly impact the reliability, quality and servicing life span for the final products (A/C, Heat pump, Refrigerator etc).

3, Based on investigation, there is NO international standards available with reliability related content.

4, If this standard in the new proposal is implemented, it will provide the basic basis for refrigeration equipment manufacturers and third-party testing and evaluation institutions to assess the service life of compressors. At the same time, it will also protect the basic rights and interests of end consumers. See attached slides for details.
