Scope

This document applies to 3-phase liquid-immersed and dry-type power transformers in the scope of IEC 60076-1 and IEC 60076-11 for one or a combination of the following applications: Photovoltaic power generation • Battery-storage applications • electric vehicle supply application • hydrogen generation applications. It applies where transformers are used to connect the converter or multiple converters of the corresponding application to the AC power system.

Excluded are:

• Collector transformers used to connect several applications to a distribution or transmission network.

• Typical distribution transformers supplying the LV distribution grid, even though generated power – for instance by photovoltaic panels installed on private house roofs or balconies – can be directly connected via converters to this grid with the power flowing through such transformers.

Purpose

This document is urgently needed with regards to the energy transition. Power Transformers play a pivotal role for the applications named in the project title and no guidance for the industry so far available by any standard.
