Scope
This technical specification presents the standard way to estimate a PEA system's performance reasonably for high-temperature measurement. For this purpose, this report recommends a systematic procedure for calibrating the measurement system at high temperatures up to 90˚C. Ordinary users of a measurement system are expected to use the procedure to estimate whether the system properly works or not at high temperatures up to 90˚C. The measurement details are described in IEC 62758- 1, and a structure of typical measurement equipment is introduced in the Annex A.
Purpose
Many researchers have used the PEA(Pulsed electro-acoustic)method to measure space charge distribution in dielectric materials, and it has generally been accepted as a useful method to understand the electrical properties of dielectric materials. To establish a standard way to evaluate whether a system works properly, a project team in IEC published a technical specification of IEC TS 62758, which shows a standard procedure for assessing PEA measurement equipment. However, since the specification was described for the measurement procedure at room temperature, there are many demands that the specification should be applied to high- temperature measurement because insulating materials are frequently used at high temperatures. The project team makes this technical specification to show the standard way to estimate fairly the performance of a PEA system for high-temperature measurement.
