PNW 86A-2610 ED1: OPTICAL FIBRE CABLES – Part 1-34: Generic specification – Optical cable elements – Micro-module

Scope

This part of IEC 60794 is a generic specification covering micro-module containing optical fibres to be used as optical cable element.

Purpose

Micro-module is commonly used as optical cable element. It has no shape memory and may be used within cables, buffer tubes or slotted core. IEC 60794-1-3 series are generic specifications for optical cable elements. Currently, they don't cover micro-module. Some parameters shall be measured on micro-modules since the corresponding tests on the optical fibres or finished cable are not sufficient for complete characterization. Therefore a generic specification for micro-module is needed.
