Scope
This document applies to surface mount type current fuse -links with auxiliary heating function(also named three-terminal fuse-links), with a rated voltage not exceeding 100 V, intended for the protection of electrical appliances and electronic equipment.
This document deals with the technical requirements and tests methods of current fuse -links with auxiliary heating function, including general requirements, standard ratings, markings, general notes on tests, dimensions and construction, electrical require ments and standard sheets.
Purpose
Installed in the protected circuit, current fuse-links with auxiliary heating function provide secondary protection for circuit safety through a combination of passive and active methods. On one hand, they can protect the circuit from overcurrent or short circuit. On the other hand, they can actively protect the circuit from overvoltage (overcharging) through the heating element under the fuse -links. Due to their miniature size, allowing for surface mounting on PCB boards, and their excellent protection, current fuse-links with auxiliary heating function fuses have been well accepted by household appliances, electronics, electric bicycles, electric tool, etc.
The existing IEC 60127 series standards specify the technical requirements for miniature fuses, focusing on the technical requirements for overcurrent protection. However, there are no applicable IEC standards for current fuse-links with auxiliary heating function, which can protect circuit from overcurrent and overvoltage(overcharge).
With the application of current fuse-links with auxiliary heating function, the shipment has been increasing year by year. However, some cases have shown that the lack of IEC standards makes it difficult to ensure the reliability and consistency of current fuse-links with auxiliary heating function . Moreover, there is a lack of unified technical requirements and test methods, leading to a lack of unified criteria for product quality control, procurement, and certification in the industry, which affects tra de and export activities. The appliances and electronics also face the problem of fuse -links selection difficulty.
It is recommended to initiate an IEC international standard for current fuse -links with auxiliary heating function, clearly defining the technical requirements and test methods for these products. This will promote the application of current fuse-links with auxiliary heating function and establish unified technical requirements and test methods worldwide.
