BS X 43 : Specification for a Chromium (VI)-free Primer for aerospace purposes

Scope

This new standard specifies the requirements for a chromate free primer for aerospace purposes. The test methods specified are designed for a product(s) that would meet the performance expectations demanded by the aerospace industry.

Purpose

The basis was the business case for the earlier BS X 42, which is the chromate-free ‘pre-primer’ (also known as an etch primer) whereas BS X 43 is the proposed chromate-free epoxy primer which is applied on top of BS X 42 or directly on to a metal surface.
