This document applies to manually propelled trolleys and portable machines with rail wheels or rollers designed for work whilst on the track.
Propose to produce an ISO technical standard to provide requirements for trolleys and portable machines as identified in ISO/TR 8941:2024. The new ISO standard is being developed based on the existing EN 13977:2011. A migration of EN 13977:2011 to ISO will be initiated for this scope. There is currently no standard at international level to describe this equipment and the associated technical and safety railway requirements. The intent of the proposed standard is to fill this gap.
The standard is intended for use by manufacturers of these types of equipment to have an agreed international set of rules as a standard to be considered when manufacturing the equipment; for use by infrastructure managers and approval organisations to have an agreed standard to accept the equipment; and for purchasers and users of the equipment to have an internationally agreed standard that can be used as part of the specification for such equipment.
