Scope

This document specifies requirements and test methods for helmets, intended to protect cyclists at sustained high-speed conditions, including riding with S-EPACs (also referred to as Speed Pedelec cycles).

Helmets according to this document meet the requirements of EN 1078 as well as additional requirements for high-speed cycling, and are designed to cover additional hazards while still covering the hazards addressed by EN 1078

Purpose

This document is mandated by the European Commission, please refer to requested deliverable in Committee Implementing Decision - 2023/941 - EN - EUR-Lex (document C(2024)2750) Annex I, Table 2: “Helmets for high speed cycling”
